Once upon a time...
Our family started making pretzels during the pandemic. It quickly became a fun hobby and by the end of 2020 we made over 700 pretzels.
Early on we realized that we were making more pretzels than we could enjoy ourselves. Our freezers were full and pretzels taste the best right from the oven. As such, we began a community-driven distribution effort and delivered fresh pretzels to friends and neighbors.
We never announced the deliveries, we simply walked or biked and rang doorbells with bags of freshly baked pretzels in hand. We knew most of the people, but sometimes it was "Hey, I'm your neighbor from down the street. We're baking pretzels, we made extra, would you like some?"
We make pretzels in a variety of shapes and sizes. Our pretzel nugget was discovered by accident. Rosemary (5) was tired of rolling out the dough to form the traditional shape. She just balled up a small amount of the dough and placed it on the baking tray. Rather than correct her, we just let it go. For a variety of reasons, the pretzel nugget has become our favorite. And stuffing it with cheese just feels right.
Now we're continuing the pretzel tradition with a bit more organization. Our goal is to distribute pretzels to friends old and new within the greater Milwaukee area. Thanks for joining us on this experiment in social community-driven distribution. We're happy to share our pretzel love.
